Mo Baxley Leaves NH Freedom to Marry

Mo Baxley, the executive director of New Hampshire Freedom to Marry is resigning due to lack of funding for the organization.  Mo Baxley has led the organization for nearly six years.  Baxley was the group’s first executive director and worked to win passage of laws recognizing gay unions. She said she is confident the repeal effort will fail.

Board chairwoman Claire Ebel said the national Freedom to Marry organization stopped providing money for Baxley’s salary in May and instead poured resources into a new group it helped create, Standing Up For New Hampshire Families. She said Baxley worked for five months without pay, but could no longer afford to volunteer her time.

This comes at a time when the NH Republicans are trying to push through another anti-gay bill to get rid of New Hampshire’s already legalized gay marriages.
