Another Gay Bigot in New Hampshire – Al Baldasaro

Alright folks, here’s another stupid Massachusetts politician moved to NH to fuck us over!  Ex Marine and Political Money Sucker Al Baldasaro believes that  “Homosexuals can change their sexual preference at any time” and  “I was so disgusted over that gay marine coming out.” Of the soldier, Stephen Hill, Baldasaro also said, “He doesn’t realize it, but when the shit hits the fan, you want your brothers covering your back, not looking at your back.”

This man is the Chairman of State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs for New Hampshire!  He’s from Cambridge, Mass. and has lived in NH for less than TEN YEARS.  This man doesn’t represent our New Hampshire VALUES!!!!!  Send him back to Mass. and let them deal with the bigot!

Jeff Ballard, Baldasaro’s Democratic opponent, issued a press release Wednesday, condemning Baldasaro’s remarks and calling on him to apologize and resign.
“As a veteran and a New Hampshire citizen,” Ballard’s statement said, “I found his applauding the booing of an Iraq War Veteran appalling. Rep. Baldasaro may have freedom of speech, but it exists because Stephen Hill, the veteran he called a ‘disgrace,’ risked his own life to protect it. … Republican House Speaker Bill O’Brien should immediately call for him to resign and remove him as Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee in the State House. Rep. Baldasaro is clearly incapable of being an advocate for all veterans.”

Email his boss William O’Brien here and tell him how upset you are —  william.obrien@leg.state.nh.us

Possible Future Vaccine for AIDS

Scientists Disarm AIDS Virus’ Attack on Immune System

Scientists say they have found a way to disarm the AIDS virus in research that could lead to a vaccine.  Researchers have discovered that if they eliminate a cholesterol membrane surrounding the virus, HIV cannot disrupt communication among disease-fighting cells and the immune system returns to normal.

Scientists have discovered that HIV needs cholesterol, which it picks up from the first immune cells it infects, to keep the virus’ outer membrane fluid.  That allows it to communicate with – and disrupt – the body’s immune system.

The long-term effect of this disrupted communication is to destroy the body’s normal defense against the AIDS virus, which is responsible for 1.8 million deaths each year.

But researchers say they can prevent HIV from damaging the immune system, if they remove the cholesterol from the virus’ outer membrane.

NH Bigots Back to Work in NH House Judiciary Panel

A House Judiciary subcommittee voted 3-1 Wednesday to recommend a repeal bill that also establishes civil unions for any unmarried adults competent to enter into a contract.  The bill still faces a vote by the full committee next month and the House in January. The committee voted to recommend killing a second bill that would simply repeal gay marriage.

State Rep. David Bates, sponsor of the repeal bill winning committee support said, ”There was no rational reason to limit that to same-sex couples,” said Bates, R-Windham.  Now isn’t that just your typical “I can’t get my way, so I’ll go around it and make it totally irrational!”

Mo Baxley, executive director of New Hampshire Freedom to Marry, said the proposal would create something legally different than the state’s 2007 civil unions law that gave gays the same rights as marriage.

“We don’t believe it is in anybody’s self-interest to hurt families or that the Legislature should spend time and energy hurting families rather than creating jobs and working on the economy,” she said.
